Mahalo Heating & Air's Monumental Billboard Success Story

The story of Mahalo Heating and Air Conditioning is one of the greatest success stories in the Outdoor Advertising Industry!

Mahalo is based in Roseburg, Oregon, a town with a population of just over 30,000 with about 110,000 people residing in the county. Mahalo was heavily using television advertising as a marketing staple. However, they were unsatisfied with the results of their campaign because much of the exposure was wasted, as the larger market (Eugene, Oregon) was an hour north of them. Due to stagnant sales, the client turned to Outdoor advertising to grow.

Their objective was to “Increase In-Store, Promotional or Special Event Sales. To create a dominating position that produced a very high share of awareness”.

Mahalo’s strategy was to utilize 15 billboards annually in a town of 30,000 people, so consumers were intercepted every few blocks by their message. Their offer of “0% financing for 72 months” was attractive to many households with limited income. The message was simple, and their branding was consistent, which made for an incredibly successful campaign.

In the first year that Mahalo used billboard advertising their sales for the financing offer rose from $469K in 2020 to over $1.4 million in 2021. In 2022 their sales grew another 21% to $1.7 million.
