Meadow’s Billboard Tarps go to Hurricane Relief on the East Coast

Hurricane Helene and Milton swept through the southeastern United States on September 26th and October 9th respectively, but the cleanup and rebuilding have just begun. It’s a race against time as the weather gets colder and the days get shorter. Winter is almost here and the need for shelter is immediate.

In steps Emergency Tarps, a company run by Every Shelter. They provide tarps made from upcycled billboard vinyls, to natural disaster victims in the US. They are focusing especially on the people affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton.

A billboard vinyl is higher quality than mass produced blue tarps provided by FEMA. These tarps are thinner and degrade quickly, commonly lasting only 12-18 months. Billboard vinyls are water resistant, tear resistant, and far more durable, commonly lasting 3-5 years. Emergency Tarp takes large billboard vinyls and folds them over on themselves then sews the material together. This creates a thick double layered tarp that can be nailed to roofs or over broken windows to insulate homes from the coming weather.

Meadow Outdoor is proud to partner with Every Shelter and send them thousands of our used billboard vinyls. Instead of going to a landfill, these tarps can be repurposed to make a huge difference in people’s lives.

On LinkedIn, Emergency Tarps said in a post:

“The biggest shoutout to Brian Casady at for collecting and donating 4,400 billboards to be manufactured into tarps. 650 tarps are now going towards relief efforts in FL due to Hurricanes Milton and Helene. That equates to about 1,625 people who will be helped because of Brian's generosity. Thank you, Brian, for partnering with us!”
